Is Car Insurance Always Mandatory?

Here's an interesting car insurance question -- is car insurance always mandatory? If you have a car and are driving on public roads, you need car insurance. You may not care about what happens to your car in the event of an accident, but you do need to have coverage to pay for someone else's damage you may cause.

If you have an older car, you do not need to have full coverage on your vehicle. You can get by with liability only coverage that will pay for property damage and bodily injury for a third party.

If you have a loan or lease on a car, you must have full coverage with comprehensive and collision coverages. The vehicle is not yours until it is fully paid off so you need to protect the lender's interests in the vehicle or they can come after you.

Is car insurance always mandatory? Yes, if you are driving a car on public roads you need to have insurance to protect the other driver in case you are in an accident.
